The ForceLink addon gives you direct control over portal destinations. Normally, Dimensions links portals using an automatic search algorithm that finds the nearest matching portal. ForceLink lets you override that behaviour and permanently pair two specific portals together — no matter how many other portals of the same type exist nearby.
ForceLink requires the ForceLink addon jar to be installed and loaded inside
./plugins/Dimensions/Addons/. The commands below will not be available
unless the addon is active.
Linking Two Portals
Select the first portal
Stand in front of the first portal so it is directly in your crosshair,
then run:Dimensions records this portal as the first half of the pair. Move to the second portal
Walk to the second portal you want to link to the first one. Face it so it
is in your crosshair, then run:Dimensions permanently pairs the two portals. Verify the link
Step through either portal to confirm it teleports you to the other. The
link persists across server restarts and ignores any new portals that are
built nearby.
ForceLink is especially useful when you have multiple portals of the same
type close together — for example, in a hub world with several nether-style
portals side by side. Use it to guarantee each portal always delivers players
to the exact destination you intend, rather than letting the search algorithm
pick one for you.
